2023 Avenger

46% Syrah, 19% Grenache, 13% Touriga Nacional, 8% Petite Sirah, 8% Carignan, 6% Mourvèdre

It’s hard to imagine this is the 23rd vintage of this wine.  Historically Syrah based and full of flavor, complexity and pleasure. The 2023 Avenger is dark, delicious, and brimming with vibrancy, and addition of Touriga Nacional provides a more athletic build than years past. This varietal ripens at lower sugar with moderate acid, which is causing a lot of buzz here on the west side of Paso. A quality to consider with climate change. 

The 2023 Avenger’s deep oxblood color transitions to intoxicating aromas of blackberry, sandalwood, earth, and smoked meats. The palate is lush and persistent, conjuring notes of black fruits, grilled plums, jamón, and wild herbs. This one is a BANGER! Built for the long haul, but ready to enjoy now with a couple of hours in a decanter. Drink 2026-2046
